letter to calvin

Here is part of the letter that we sent to Calvin. I decided to post it since it gives our good news and the story behind it. Enjoy!
I know that you have already been informed of our very exciting news about being pregnant. It’s actually a little surprise for us because of some recent happenings. At the end of July I went running with a friend in the morning when I started to feel a lot of pain. To put it bluntly, I felt like I was going into labor. I just doubled over in pain so my friend Margaret ran to get Jarett. When Jarett finally got to me I told him I needed to go to the ER (first time in my life).   Five weeks after the visit to the ER, I found out that I was 6 weeks pregnant!  We were pregnant when the doctor informed us that we probably couldn’t get pregnant! That just lets me know that the Lord is truly in control. Right now we are almost three months pregnant. I have faith that the Lord made this happen, and that he will pull through. We are very excited for this new change in our lives and for the opportunity to take part in the Lord’s plan of happiness.
Jarett and I will be graduating this coming December and we have our tickets to fly home. Our plans after that are in the Lord’s hands. I can’t believe that our experience here in Hawaii has almost ended. We have both fallen in love with this island and the people on it. In two weeks I will be given complete responsibility to my second grade class in a town called Hau’ula. I am so nervous but excited for this new experience as well. I cannot believe the stress that teachers are put through! Most days I wonder why I ever chose to be a teacher, but then there are those little moments that remind me that there isn’t anything else that I would rather do. We have learned and grown so much here in Hawaii and I am sure that you could say the same about New Zealand.
We are especially looking forward to the Temple dedication this November. The Laie Temple has been closed for renovations for the past year and a half. We have lived only a few steps away from the Temple and haven’t even been able to attend it.  I can’t even describe how excited I am. President Monson will be here for the dedication! It will be a grand celebration to end our time here in Hawaii.

  1. Congratulations! You didn't tell me. This is very exciting. Who would ever imagine that you, me and Melissa would all be pregnant at the same time! Go Thatcher buddies! I hope everything is going well and that you are feeling pretty good... especially with those 2nd graders to keep in line. Take care of yourself. Love ya!
