We love road trips. I grew up going on a road trip pretty much every other month, and Jarett has come to love it too. Kai on the other hand...well it's not his favorite thing in the world. He did pretty good considering we were in the car a total of 34 hours in 5 days. I think my voice went horse from singing so many songs to him. As long as I was singing he was entertained. The very last hour of our trip he decided to scream. He was done!
We drove to Sanford North Carolina to visit Uncle Kelvin and his wife Sandra. We had such a great time. To actually be with family on Thanksgiving was something to be grateful for. Not only that but we went out and played a game of Frisbee golf, (Kelvin is so good at this game) watched "What about Bob?" (which was even more entertaining since Kelvin is a therapist) and even went out to a family friendly comedy show! At the show we met up with Adrian and his wife. I never knew Adrian was so awesome! But then again I only met him I think once in my life when I was very young.
If you look in the background of our picture above you can see the destruction that the tornado did to their area. We are actually standing on the back deck which was rebuilt. It was crazy to listen to their story and see what the tornado destroyed. Most of the homes in their neighborhood are completely rebuilt. You can actually see the path that the tornado took through the neighborhood. It was definitely an eye opening experience since we live in an area that gets hit by tornadoes every summer.
Oh and I can't forget our visit to a Zoo that was privately owned. We actually got to pet and hold some of the exotic animals there, one of them being a cute baby African Jenet.
After soaking up the perfect weather in North Carolina we headed down to Evans Georgia to meet up with our friends flying in from Hawaii. It was so good to see Skye, Ryan and baby Reagan. Baby girl Reagan was only four weeks old! Skye is such a good mama. Our time in Georgia was short but definitely worth it.
From Georgia we drove the 15 hours home. It was insane. Below are a few photos we took of Kai when we were in NC.
We feel pretty lucky to have such an adorable son.
